"Getting to know you."

There are three stages in the lesson (A, B &C)

A.  The desks are moved back to the wall and the students and Teacher sit in a circle. The first student must introduce himself by giving his first name and a descriptive (Positive!) word, which begins with the first letter of his name i.e."I知 Mark and I知 marvellous!" The next student must repeat what the previous student said and add his own name i.e. "This is Mark and he is marvellous! I知 Amy and I知 angelic!" The next student must repeat all the names that have gone before and add his own until we arrive back at Mark again.

B.  Each student now pairs up with the person next to him or her. They move their chairs to face one another. One student is A and the other B. A is the interviewer, B will answer the questions. Questions may include:
1. Full name.
2. How many in the family.
3. Previous Primary school.
4. Leisure activities.
5. Favourite Food.
6. Pet hates etc.
When B has answered all the questions, the roles are reversed.

Allow about 3 minutes per interview.

C. Call the group to order. Get the chairs back in the circle. Ask the student to introduce his/her partner - telling as much information as he or she can about him/her. After each student is introduced you may allow other students in the class to put their hands up if the have something in common with the student just introduced. They must introduce themselves first i.e. "I知 Mark and I have two brothers also!" Limit these to one or two students in order to make sure that every student is introduced.

N.B. Remember to allow time to put the tables and chairs back!

It is a good idea to work out a system for doing this in order to avoid chaos.
