Basic Communicative Proficiency The attached resource can be adapted to suit the age, life experience and interests and of course language skills of the group you are teaching.
You can use it / draw up one of your own after a getting to know you session at start of course / year.
Students first practise asking the questions in German requiring ja / nein answers, where each question will begin with a verb.
The structure used in the handout places the verbs at the end of each sentence.
Each sentence has to be reformed into a question either:

present tense, e.g. Kannst du japanisch?
or past tense, e.g. Hast du heute nacht schlecht geschlafen?

The object of the game is to find someone in the class who answers the question positively and to complete the sheet with names before anyone else.
The person being asked may only answer ja / nein.
A nein answer means you either ask another question of that person or you move on to someone else.
A ja answers means you note the persons name on the sheet and allow him / her to ask you questions.
The winner’s answers can be checked in a teacher to class question-answer session and a prize (no homework) awarded.
This is a lively event in class. Students are required to move around the classroom.
